About Luke Proulx

Luke Proulx, an American Farriers Association (AFA) and Ontario Farriers Association(OFA) Certified Journeyman Farrier,(CJF), has been shoeing for over 30 years. His business, Luke Proulx Farrier Limited, provides farrier services to many of Canada's top Olympic and grand-prix jumper and dressage horses. Mr. Proulx has shod many different types of horses over the years, including Thoroughbred and Standardbred racehorses, polo ponies, draft horses, hackneys, gaited horses, hunters, western pleasure horses and the elite of Canada's performance horses in both dressage and jumpers. Luke travels regularly to Florida and California throughout the winter months to provide farrier services to his Canadian and US clients on the show circuits. He has also travelled to the 1996 Atlanta, Georgia and the 2000 Sydney, Australia Olympic games as well as Warendorf, Germany to shoe a client's horse for the 2004 Athens, Greece Olympics.


Luke is an international clinician and a previous competitor himself, having competed on the Canadian Farrier's Team for eight consecutive years. He has successfully competed overseas in England and Scotland, where he received recognition for forging the best Clydesdale shoe. Luke won the U.S. Mustad Specialty Forging in 1991 and was ranked fourth in the world at the 1989 Calgary Stampede - a competition he later judged in 2007. (Common Sense Hoof Care)
